Healthy Homes for all is a project to increase awareness of domestic energy issues and reduce the risk of fuel poverty amongst harder to reach and BME communities, likely to be disproportionately affected by the impacts of Covid-19, and more at risk of self-disconnection.
The project will led by the Croydon BME Forum which has a long track record of community engagement, with specialist and advisory support from Croydon Council.
The project will run drop in sessions at venues across the borough, and one to one support for
residents in person, by telephone and virtually. The one to one sessions will include energy bill support, switching energy tariffs, energy debt support, energy efficiency advice and applying for grant funding for emergency heating and home energy improvements as well as making referrals for additional support from Croydon Council and other agencies.
The project will also fund promotional campaigns and materials designed for residents who do not speak English as a first language, and work with Croydon Council to develop a network of energy champions.
